If your air conditioning goes out during the warm months, you should immediately call an air conditioning repair firm (such as One Hour Air Conditioning & Heating (West Pasco)) to get on the list for repairs. Even if the technician will be dispatched the next day, it is possible that your house will heat to extreme temperatures in the heat. Here are some actions that you need to take if you feel the house overheating and want to get a handle on it.

Lay out ice packs for the pets

If you have frozen ice packs, lay these on the floor underneath your pet's favorite blanket or on their favorite resting spot. If you do not have premade frozen ice packs, you can make your own by putting ice cubes inside of two plastic bags and lay them on the floor. This will allow them to lay on the blanket and cool their underbelly and cool down their paws. Be sure that plenty of water is left out for your pet, so that they do not suffer from overheating.

Unplug the heat producing appliances

If it is heating up indoors, unplug all of the appliances that conduct heat. Unplug the coffee maker right after you use it. Pull the plugs on the oven and stove, toaster, and other appliances. Instead, opt for cold, cooling meals that can be made without heat. Unplug the dryer and use a hanging rack or hang your laundry outside. Decreasing the heat conducting appliances can stop you from accidentally using something to make the problem worse.

Place ice in front of a fan

Get a bowl of ice and put it in front of each of your table fans and floor fans. This will aid the fan in cooling down the room by blowing water through the air. If ice is in short supply, you can do the same thing with a towel full of cold water. Just place it in front of the fan. Distributing cool water along with the breeze can make everyone a little more comfortable.

Go plant based for all meals

Diets that are based on natural plants internally cool down the body. This will keep everyone comfortable for a little bit longer. Have lettuce, vegetables, and fruits for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If you desire hot foods, heat the vegetables up on the grills and have kebobs. This will make sure that the inside of the home won't be hot, but give you a warm meal while you wait for a cool house.
